  • On August 11, the Roman army of Syria welcomed his ancestral, Hadrian as the monarch, which made the senate's ceremonious acceptance an almost pointless event. One of his first acts was to withdraw Rome’s army from Mesopotamia (modern Iraq)
  • Mesopotamia is basically made up of two words- Meso- potamia, Meso meaning mean (middle) and potamiya means river, that is, the area between the two rivers was called Mesopotamia.
  • 30 legions in the Roman army. Each legion had between 4,000 and 6,000 soldiers,  legionaries. Each legion had 10 cohorts. Each cohort was made up of six troops of about 80 legionaries, called centuries.
