Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is a famous shooter of India. On August 17, at the Athens Olympics to be held in August 2004, a new player had set a new record, giving the first Olympic silver medal to independent India. The silver medal in any individual event was held by Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's gun from India. India got the first silver medal after 57 years of independence. British-born in India Norman, won two silver medals at the Summer Olympics held in 1900

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was born on January 29, 1970 in a Rajput family of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. His home name is 'Chilli'. His wife's name is Dr. Gayatri. He has a son Manav Aditya and daughter named  Bhagyashree.  Manju and Col Laxman Singh are his parents, lives in Delhi

Achievements of Rathore

  • Rajyavardhan Singh Rathod has been the best player of basketball, volleyball, cricket, football, kabaddi and athletics since the school time.
  • Rathore performed brilliantly in national cricket organized by the School Games Federation of India and won gold medal in a sphere throw competition.
  • Rajyavardhan also performed brilliantly in the basketball team in National Defense Academy (NDA) and won many individual gold medals, which led him to awarded by the NDA Best Sports Award 'NDA Blazer'.
  • In the 2002 Commonwealth Games, two gold medals were held at Manchester in England.
  • Rathore won Bronze medal in ISSF World Shotgun Cup in Delhi during 2003.
  • In 2003, Rathore won Bronze medal in World Shooting Championships in Nicosia of Cyprus.
  • He brought Gold medal in the Sydney World Cup in 2004
  • In 2004, he got the gold medal in the Czech Masters Cup  in Czech Republic.
  • Rajyavardhan Rathore won Silver medal in the Athens Olympics in Greece, on August 17, 2004.
  • On winning his silver medal, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had announced a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh and a flat worth Rs 8.5 lakhs from the state government to Major Rathod.

  • Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won the silver medal for India at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Awards and honors

  • Rajvardhan Singh Rathore was awarded 'Arjuna Award' in September 2004
  • Hero Honda Spice Academy nominated Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore as the best player of the year of shooting for the year 2004.
  • Rathore was awarded the 'Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award' in the year 2005. This award was given to him by President Dr. A. P.J. Abdul Kalam.
  • In the 18th Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was considered a gold medalist in the pairs event, but he missed his goal and stayed in second place with the silver medal.
  • In May 2006,  Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore achieved a major success by winning gold medal in Cairo's ISSF World Cup, along with the qualification for 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
  • In 2006, Rathore won gold medal in the Cairo World Cup, which is not less than any major achievement.
  • Rajyavardhan won the bronze medal in the ULT competition in Doha Asiad in December 2006. 
  • He won silver medal in the men's double trap team event along with Vikram Bhatnagar and Ranjan Sodhi.

Rajyavardhan Rathore entered in Politics  on 10 September 2013 by joining BJP, after voluntary retirement from army. He was elected MP from Jaipur Rural seat in Lok Sabha elections in 2014.  

Today he is serving the country as Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports in the Government of India.
