al Bahadur Shastri was died in suspicious circumstances on 11 January 1966. After the cease fire of Indo-Pak war in 1965, the army of both countries was ordered to return. Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and President of Pakistan, Ayub Khan agreed to met and discuss for peace. Both countries chief decided to meet in Tashkent in  Russia. It’s said that by the pressurization of Russia and America, they met in Tashkent in Russia, on 10 January 1966, to sign on the peace agreement between India and Pakistan, which is well known by the name of Tashkent agreement.

A few hours after the historic agreement, everything changed for India. The death of Indian PM in questionable circumstances on the foreign soil has subsided. People were unhappy, but they were far more surprised.

After the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri, all questions stand. The story of conspiracy behind his death was also told. Especially when two important witnesses of Shastri's death, his personal physician RN Chugh and domestic assistant Ram Nath died in suspicious circumstances in road accidents, this mystery became deeper. A decade after the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri, in 1977, the government formed the Raj Narayan Samiti to investigate his death. This committee examined all aspects, but till today the report of this committee is not known.

  • Lal Bahadur was also called by the name “Munshi”, as his father, ‘Munshi Sharda Prasad Srivastav’ was a teacher in Primary School of Mughalsarai.
  • Family members call him ‘Nanhe’, affectionately since he was youngest of all.
  • Lal Bahadur Shastri was against Caste System. He removed his surname ‘Srivastav’ from his name.
  • Lal Bahadur received title of ‘Shastri’ from Kashi Vidyapeeeth.
  • Shastri received spinning wheel and some clothes of Khadi as his dowry.
  • He gave ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’, which gave the power to Indians to survive in unfavorable condition.
  • Shastri connected women with Transport sector, during his tenure as Transport Minister.
  • He suggested to use water shower instead of sticks to scatter the crowd.
