Jnanpith poet Govind Shankar Kurup was passed away on 2 February

Govind Shankar Kurup was a famous author in Malayali language, honored with 'Jnanpeeth Award'. He achieved the ability to teach by passing the 'Pandit' examination of the state of Cochin. After that, he continued teaching here and there for two years. More than 40 original and translated works of 'Mahakavi' Govind Shankar Kurup have been published.

  • Govind Shankar Kurup was born on June 5, 1901 in a place named Naayttot of Kerala.
  • Shankar Kurup got the ability to teach by passing the 'Pandit' examination of the state of Cochin.
  • He continued to work teaching here for two years.
  • Govind was appointed as a teacher in Tiruvilwamla, from 1921 to 1925, he stayed in Tiruvilwamla.
  • In 1931, the publication of the poem titled 'Nalen' gave a bustle in the literary world.
  • Some people told him to be rebellious and due to his appointment as a professor in Maharaja College, Ernakulam, he was once again interrupted.
  • He retired from 1937 to 1956 as a Professor of Malayalam at this college.
  • After getting a break, he was a producer at Trivandrum Center of AIR.
  • Govind Shankar Kurup's poetic work 'Otkkushal' was first published in the year 1950.
