US Parliament passed bill to remove limits on green card

The US Parliament recently passed a bill related to the Green Card.  This bill has been passed with the objective to remove the existing seven percent limit. Passing this bill will benefit thousands of highly skilled IT professionals from India.

This bill will reduce the painful time for talented professionals from countries such as India, passed by the House of Representatives, who want permanent residence and stay in the United States.


  • This bill has been brought to remove the provision to determine the maximum limit for the countries.
  • This bill got passed with 365 votes against 65 in the 435-member house.
  • According to the current system by the US, the number of family-based migrant visas was limited in a year.
  • According to the system so far, such a visa can be given to only seven percent of the country.
  • This limit has been increased from 7 percent to 15 percent in the new bill.
  • In this way, the limit of giving only seven percent employment-based migrant visas to every country has also been abolished.
  • This bill must first be approved by the Senate.
  • Then it will take the form of law with the signature of US President Donald Trump.
  • It will give the maximum benefit to more than three lakh Indian nationals living in the US.
