According to a report by UNICEF, about one lakh 20 thousand children and teenagers suffer from HIV infection by 2017. This is the highest number of HIV sufferers in a country in South Asia. UNICEF has warned that if efforts to stop it have not been exposed, 80 teenagers may die due to AIDS in the world every day till 2030. It has been said in the report that South Asia has made necessary efforts to prevent the spread of HIV in children, adolescents, pregnant women and mothers.

In the year 2017, the number of HIV-infected children aged up to five years has decreased by 43 percent compared to 2010. While the share of Life Savingl antiretroviral therapy (ART) of 0 to 14 years of this year was 73 percent, which is 50 percent higher than 2010. The report says that the latest trend indicates that the speed of AIDS related deaths and new infections is slowing down, but the decrease in old cases is being seen to be low.
