States are advised to tackle with cyclone 'Vayu'

Predicting the cyclonic storm 'Vayu' to hit the Gujarat coast and the danger of destruction in nearby areas, the central government has started preparations for the rescue. Home Minister Amit Shah and Cabinet Secretary PK Sinha reviewed the preparations for dealing with the situation at different high level meetings.

Meteorological Department’s predictions

  • According to the Meteorological Department, on 13th June, cyclonic storm can hit the coast of Gujarat.
  • The Meteorological Department warned on June 11, 2019 that there is a low pressure area in the Arabian Sea.
  • In view of this, the department has expressed its apprehensions of heavy rains in the south and western areas, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa for next three days.
  • The weather department issued a bulletin and said that the air could be faster and faster in the next 24 hours.
  • According to the Meteorological Department, on June 13, the winds of 110 to 120 kmph can be seen in Porbandar, Mahuva, Veraval and Diu in Gujarat.
  • Wind speed can reach 135 km / h.
  • The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in the coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch on 13-14 June.


HighAlert state

  • Gujarat state is warned for High Alert due to the storm.
  • National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed in coastal areas. Fishermen have been instructed to not go to the sea even for the next few days. The Commissioner of Rajkot has declared a holiday in all schools and colleges on June 13, 2019.
  • Nearly 300 boats that have been fishing have returned to the coast.

Cyclone affects other areas

  • Heavy rains have started before the cyclone reached in Maharashtra.
  • Due to heavy rains, flight operations at the Mumbai airport were suspended for a while.

High Temperature areas

  • In Palam area of ??the national capital Delhi, maximum temperature was recorded 48 ??degrees Celsius, eight degrees Celsius more than normal  on 10 June Monday.
  • It is worth mentioning that in Delhi it has been the hottest day in the last 20 years.
  • Earlier on May 26, 1998, the temperature in Delhi reached 48 degree Celsius.
  • The hottest place in the country was Churu in Rajasthan on 10 June 2019.
  • The maximum temperature was recorded at 48.6 degree Celsius here.
