Prime Minister Narendra Modi selected for 'Seoul Peace Prize-2018'

India's current Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been selected for the year 2018's 'Seoul Peace Prize'. He will be given this award for contributing to the Indian and the global economy.

The Award Committee appreciated their 'Modinomics' in India to reduce the social and economic difference between rich and poor. This decision was taken after the selection committee meeting of Seoul-Jung-Y, chaired by the Seoul Peace Prize Cultural Foundation chairman Quan E-Hyok.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi: Seoul Peace Prize

• Choi Chung-Ho, chairman of the selection committee, in his address said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been selected for his efforts to improve the lives of 1.35 billion people of India.

• He has established economic relations with many countries for improvement in the field of public welfare.

• Modi is making a big contribution to the global peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region.

• He is promoting international cooperation through diplomacy.

• Award Selection Committee has described Prime Minister Modi as the "Best candidate" for this award. Modi is the 14th man to receive this honor.

• The committee has also given credit to PM Modi for contributing to global and world peace through active foreign policy. The committee specifically mentions 'Modi doctorate' and 'act east policy'.

• With this award, PM Modi will be given a sum of 2 million dollars.

Selection process: The twelve-member selection committee has selected the winner after more than 100 candidates from around the world after a strong, objective and intensive conclave. Among the people who had fought for this award were present and former chiefs of many countries, politicians, business leaders, religious leaders, scholars, journalists, cultural figures, artists, sportsmen and international organizations.

Seoul Peace Prize

• Those who won the Seoul Peace Prize include International Olympic Committee Chairman Juan Antonio Samaranch, former US Secretary of State George Schultz, NGO Doctors without Borders, Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Dennis Muchej and United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Ban Ki Moon.

• It is worth mentioning that four of the 13 people who received this award were also awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

• These include NGO Doctors without Borders, Kofi Annan, founder of Rural Bank, Mohammed Yunus, and Founder of Register Hospital Dennis Mukwej.

• The Seoul Peace Prize was established after the conclusion of the 24th Olympic Games held in Seoul in the year 1990. Juan Antonio Samaranch, former president of the International Olympic Committee, was first honored with this honor.

Champions of the Earth' award: It is worth mentioning that in September 2018 Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given the United Nations's highest environmental honor. The United Nations had conferred the 'Champions of the Earth' award jointly to Modi and the French President, Emmanuel Macroon. Apart from them, five other individuals and organizations were honored with this award.
