Prime Minister inaugurated development projects worth Rs 4,000 crore in Arunachal Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Itanagar on February 09, 2019 in order of his visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Tripura. They laid the foundation of the new Greenfield Airport and Sela Tunnel in Itanagar. The Prime Minister also inaugurated DD Arun Prabha Channel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled several other development projects from Itanagar's IG Park. The Prime Minister also inspected the Line Loom operations there. Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of Greenfield Airport in Holongi and inaugurated the Teju airport.

Projects started in Arunachal Pradesh

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh. It will be able to reach Tawang Valley in all seasons.
  • The terminal will be constructed at a cost of 955 crores in 4100 sqm area in Holongi. Its operating capacity will be 200 passengers per hour.
  • To reach Itanagar at present, landing at Guwahati Airport had to be used by road or helicopter service.
  • The Tezu airport was built 50 years ago. The airport has been expanded at a cost of Rs. 125 crores.
  • Under this, people will get the benefit of flying air travel by flying planes.
  • Prime Minister inaugurated the 110 MW Pare Hydro Power Plant. 100% households will be electrified under the good luck scheme.
  • The Prime Minister inaugurated 50 health and health centers in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Prime Minister launched Arun Prabha - Special DD Channel for Arunachal Pradesh in IG Park of Itanagar. The 24-hour channel will be operated by Doordarshan. News from remote areas of the state will reach people from this channel.

The importance of the Sea La Tunnel of Arunachal Pradesh

  • Prime Minister Modi has laid the foundation stone of the Sea La Tunnel; it connects Arunachal Pradesh with Tawang.
  • It is being constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO). BRO will take about three years to complete this tunnel.
  • People will not have to go through C-peak's snowy road, which is at an altitude of 13,700 feet.
  • The cost of this project has been fixed at 687 crores. Under this project, 12.04 km area will come. It includes two tunnels of 1,790 meters and 475 meters.
  • It will be a movement-friendly tunnel in all weather.
  • This will help the army to reach here and deliver the necessary material and the army's confidence will increase.

Other projects started in the Northeast

  • The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the North-East Gas-Grid in Guwahati. This grid will ensure the availability of natural gas throughout the region and encourage industrial development.
  • He inaugurated the Hollong Modular Gas Processing Plant in Tinsukia, which would supply 15% of the total produced gas in Assam.
  • The Prime Minister also inaugurated the LPG capacity addition of Storage Values ??in North Guwahati.
  • On this occasion, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of NRL Bio-Refinery and 729-km Barauni-Guwahati Gas Pipeline in Numaligarh. This pipeline will pass through Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and Assam.
  • The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of the city gas distribution network in the districts of Kamrup, Kacher, Hailakandi and Karimganj.
