PM Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Scheme
Narendra Modi launched the scheme in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on April 14, 2018, on the occasion of Bhimrao Ambedkar's birthday on the launch of the ambitious Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, about 50 crore people of the country will get health insurance of Rs. 5 lakhs. Here the first phase of Ayushman Bharat Scheme has been launched. During the launch of the scheme, the Prime Minister announced that health and wellness centres would be opened in 1.5 lakh villages in the country. It will not only be a cure for the disease but also the health check-up facility. Significantly, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had announced this scheme in the budget presented this year.
Key facts related to Ayushman Bharat Scheme
Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, each family will get insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh per annum for treatment.
The scheme is likely to benefit 10 crore households and 50 crore people of the country.
This scheme will replace the National Health Insurance Scheme and Senior Citizen Insurance Scheme.
It will depend on the states whether they want to implement it or not. From April 01, 2018, the government will get Rs 2000 crores for this.
There will be no obligation of age for insurance cover. Treatment can be done in any private or government hospital registered in the scheme
The first phase of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme has been started, in which efforts will be made to make major changes in primary health-related issues.
In every major Panchayat of the country, sub-centres and primary health centres will be developed as health and wellness centres in about 1.5 lakh places.
Purpose of plan
Any Indian citizen who does not have any insurance policy for treatment in the health condition of the victim nor the person has so much money that he can get his treatment; in that case, the person can get treatment with the help of Ayushman India.
The main purpose of the announcement of this scheme is to provide basic health-related infrastructure in the country. After the implementation of this plan, the poor will also be able to provide good health facilities in the event of illness.
