Narendra Modi sworn in as prime minister for the second time

Narendra Modi has taken oath as Prime Minister, President Ramnath Kovind administered him.  The swearing-in ceremony was organized in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhawan.

This will be his second term as Prime Minister. This time also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi contested from Varanasi Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh. While Narendra Modi got 674664 votes in this election, Shalini Yadav of SP remained second with 195159 votes. Congress Ajay Rai remained third with 15,2548 votes.

Highlights of ceremony


  • The swearing-in program was organized at seven o'clock.
  • More than 8000 dignitaries were invited in this ceremony.
  • The President of BIMSTEC Country (Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan) were also present in the ceremony.
  • President of Kyrgyzstan,  Sooronbay Jeenbekov alongwith  Mauritius president  also participated in this function.
  • Congress chief  Rahul Gandhi and opposition leader including UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as well as chief ministers of many Indian states were also there.
  • Various industry personalities as well as bollywood celebrity also attended ceremony.

Narendra Modi

  • Narendra Modi was born on September 17, 1950 in Vadnagar, Gujarat.
  • Narendra Modi used tea stalls to help his family in youth.
  • In early life, he was associated with an organization called RSS.
  • In 1968, Narendra Modi married Jashodaben.
  • After that, Narendra Modi undertook a religious tour of various places
  • In 1971, Shri Modi became a full-time member of the RSS.
  • He worked very active during the Emergency in 1975.
  • RSS deployed Narendra Modi to work with the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1985.
  • Narendra Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat from October 7, 2001 to May 22, 2014.
  • Modi did excellent work in 2001, during earthquake in Bhuj.
  • There were massive communal riots in Gujarat in 2002, after which a lot of question marks were raised on Narendra Modi but Supreme Court gave him clean chit as SIT did not found evidence against Narendra Modi
  • To make Gujrat an Economic Hub, Modi played a major role.
  • In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections Narendra Modi led the Bharatiya Janata Party and wonby 282 seats.


  • In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party got a clear majority.
  • Bharatiya Janata Party has won 303 seats. Significantly, in the last elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party got 282 seats, this time BJP has gone far ahead of the 2014 figures.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the foundation stone of the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The people of the country, Indians gave the second opportunity to the BJP having faith on the leadership of Modi.
  • Congress got 44 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. This time Congress has contested under the leadership of Shri Rahul Gandhi, Congress has won 52 seats across the country.
