Mithali Raj announced for retirement  from T20 Cricket

Mithali Raj, the former captain of the Indian women's team, has announced her retirement from T20 cricket. However, she will continue to play ODI cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed this big announcement by Mithali Raj.

Mithali Raj has the record of playing the most matches and scoring the most runs for India in T20 cricket. Mithali Raj has scored a total of 2,364 runs in 89 T20 Internationals, which is the highest by any Indian in this format.

While announcing her retirement from T20 International, Mithali Raj said that she will now focus on ODIs and will put her energy into the preparations for the 2021 World Cup.

  • Mithali Raj has played 89 T20 Internationals.
  • She has scored 2,364 runs at an average of 37.52.
  •  Mithali Raj has scored 17 half-centuries in her T20 career.
  • Her highest score is 97 runs.
  • Mithali Raj captained the Indian team in the year 2012 (Sri Lanka), in the year 2014 (Bangladesh) and in the T20 World Cup 2016 (India).
  • She became India's first T20 captain in the year 2006.
  • She became the first player to score 2000 runs in T20 International cricket for India.
  • She also completed 2000 runs in T20 international cricket before Indian men's team member Rohit Sharma and Captain Virat Kohli.
