Maldives honored Narendra Modi with Maldives Highest Honor

Maldives has decided to honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with his greatest honor. Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid informed about this. He said that the President has announced his decision to honor PM Narendra Modi.

With the beginning of the second innings of his tenure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already left for the Maldives on a foreign tour. Maldivian's highest honor ‘Mark Eisuddin’, handed over to  foreign dignitaries will be given to PM Modi.  

Highlights of Tour

  • This is the first foreign tour of Modi after he became Prime Minister for second term.
  • After reaching to Maldives, PM Modi will also address the Parliament.
  • The Maldivian Parliament passed an unanimous resolution, Last month, and invited Prime Minister Modi to address the House.
  • The highlight of this tour is that for the first time in eight years, no Indian Prime Minister is going to Maldives for bilateral talks.

‘Mark Eisuddin’ ,Maldives's highest honor

  • It is the biggest honor of the Maldives to be given to foreign celebrities.
  • Prime Minister Modi is being given this honor because his leadership strengthened the friendship between India and Maldives.
  • Modi has strengthen Progressive work on decades old relationships between the two countries.
  • Prior to Modi, Saudi Arabia and Russia have earlier received their highest civilian honor.

Significantly,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi also invited BIMSTEC heads of state to the oath taking ceremony of his second term. Apart from India in BIMSTEC, BangladeshMyanmar, Sri LankaThailandNepal and Bhutan are included.

  • Significantly, in the year 2018, Prime Minister Modi also came in the swearing in the oath of President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih of Maldives.
  • During this visit of Prime Minister, many agreements are expected to be signed to strengthen Maldives and strengthen its economy.
  • Prime Minister Modi and President of Maldives will jointly launch two defense related projects.
  •  These projects includes the opening of the Joint Practice Center for coastal surveillance radar systems and security forces of the Maldives.
  • The coastal surveillance radar will help to monitor the Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean.
