Indian Railways decided to reduce 25 percent fare in Shatabdi-Tejas trains

Indian Railways is going to implement the 25 percent reduced fare scheme in select trains Shatabdi, Gatimaan and Tejas Express trains. Actually, the Indian Railways has taken this decision due to stiff competition from roadways and cheap airlines. This information was given by a senior railway official.

This concession will be given on the basis of air-conditioned chair car, executive chair car seats. Reservation fee, superfast fee and others will be levied separately. Concession will be given in trains which sell less than 50 percent of tickets monthly in the year 2018.

Travelers avoid traveling because of the high fare of these trains. The main purpose of the railways is to fill the seats that remain vacant in these trains.

Significantly, in the last few years, there was an increase in railway fares only. Mainly there was a significant increase in the fares of premium trains and ACs.

  • According to the railway, more than 50 percent seats in trains like Shatabdi, Gatiman and Tejas Express were found vacant in the past.
  • All other concessions will not be available in the train in which this exemption will be applicable, as well as dynamic fair will not be available.
  • Even in crowded weather, the fares of the trains will be less than the aircraft despite the dynamic pricing.
  • The railways have been asked to prepare the list of such trains by September 30, 2019.
  • According to the ministry, the zone management should try to increase the reservation of train seats.
