First batch of pilgrims leave for Amarnath Yatra 2019

Amarnath Yatra started on 1 July, 2019, between a high level of security. Pilgrims leave for the annual Amarnath Yatra to visit Baba Bafarni located in the Holy Cave of the Himalayas


  • After the first batch of more than 2,000 pilgrims left for the Kashmir Valley, the second batch of 4,417 pilgrims left for the cave from Jammu.
  • 7,500 pilgrims leave for the yatra from Baltal base camp in Ganderbal district of north Kashmir.
  • The rest have already reached the cave with the Chhadi Mubarak while traveling through Pahalgam route.
  • The 45-day annual visit to an altitude of 3,888 meters from sea level, , will be completed on August 15.
  • In addition to 31 children, 3,043 men and 843 women, left the Bhagwati Nagar passenger residence with a convoy of 142 vehicles.
  • Jammu and Kashmir government, the security forces and the Union Home Ministry have made adequate arrangements to safeguard the journey from July 1 to August 15, . 
  • Security agencies are alert on Amarnath yatra in view of ongoing Operation Allocation for the elimination of terrorists in the Valley.
  • More than 40 thousand jawans have been deployed from the Jammu railway station to the entire route of the holy Amarnath yatra so that the terrorists can not carry out any violent incident.

  • According to legends, Lord Shiva narrated the Amar Katha to the mother Parvati in the Amarnath cave.
  • One surprise thing in this cave is that in the cave, the shivaling is made of solid ice while the ice spreads below is raw.
