Chandrayaan-2 will enter moon's orbit on August 20, according to ISRO

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) President K. Sivan said on 12 August 2019 that Chandrayaan-2 is likely to reach the Moon's orbit on 20 August. Chandrayaan-2 will continue to revolve in the lunar orbit till 31 August thereafter.


  • According to ISRO, Chandrayaan-2 will land on the lunar surface on September 7, 2019.
  • So far, no satellite has landed in this part of the moon.
  • ISRO Chief K.K. Sivan said that on August 14, 2019, at around 3.30 am, 'Chandrayaan-2' will move out of the Earth's orbit and move towards the moon.
  • According to ISRO, Chandrayaan-2 is still working as per schedule.
  • All of its equipment is working correctly.
  • According to ISRO's plan, the landing of the lander and rover will be on the lunar surface on 07 September 2019.
  • The lander-rover will be launched on the part of the south pole of the moon, where no vehicle has landed yet.
  • India will become the fourth country in the world to do so after landing on the lunar surface.
  • Before India, America, Russia and China have landed their vehicles on the moon.

  • Chandrayaan-2 will now find out where and in what form water is.
  • Additionally, Chandrayaan-2 will detect the weather and radiation there.
  • Chandrayaan-2 will also find out in which part and when there is light and sometimes when there is a dark shadow.
