A popular painting created by David Hockney, an British Artist of 81 years, sold for more than $90m (£70m) at Christie's in New York, making a record of auction.
‘Pool with Two Figures’, Portrait of an Artist was estimated to bring $ 80m (£ 62m)
It was sold after a short bidding argument, through telephone between two bidders, after the price crossed $ 70m (£ 54m).
This record of highest auction was on the name of artist Jeff Koons from United States, but this sale shattered this record. In 2013, his Stainless Steel Balloon Dog was sold for a price of $58m (£45m).
The auction house Christie, in New York was packed with the bidders on this occasion of auction.
The auction room packed with peoples in New York, echoed with a noise of cheers, when the final price was $90.3m including premium and commission.
The Name of buyer is kept secret.
About painting: The Hockney painting created in 1972 and is popular in one of the most recognized artwork of Yorkshire.
This painting was started on the floor of David’s studio and completed in scheduled period for the display in Andre Emmerich Gallery in New York in 1972.

Earlier,David Geffen was the owner of “Pool with Two Figures” and he sold it to British billionaire Joe Lewis in 1995 for an unknown amount.
